Stacking Your Plate Too High
In today’s day and age, the pressure of feeling like you have to constantly be productive or creating something innovative is at an all time high, and it can be easy to fall into a habit of putting too much on your plate at once. In a strange twist of fate, putting too much on your agenda can actually produce the opposite effect of productivity, and instead spiral into a place of overwhelming mental strain. Ralph, Malyn, Megan, and Sai discuss the motives behind causing burnout to oneself, and how to spot warning signs in order to combat them.
Prioritizing Rest
We get it: there’s always so much to do and seemingly so little time! WIth a busy schedule, it can be easy to put rest to the wayside in order to accomplish all of our goals. But, as we’ve come to find out, productivity is nothing without a balance of rest to go with it. Whether it be studying for finals, starting new projects at work, or simply getting things done around the house, setting time aside for periods of downtime and relaxation can provide one with a greater capacity to be more productive and avoid pesky burnout.
Procrastination
We’ve all said this to ourselves at some point or another: “I’ll just get to it later!” This “later” then turns into days, months, and can even be put off all together. As Megan shares in this episode, “Stress isn’t about what you are doing, but rather what you are not,” and includes her experience with procrastination induced anxieties. In this episode, we discuss how to break the cycle of procrastination and find remedies that make the tasks we need to accomplish a little more enjoyable and incentivized.
Some Tips From the Episode:
Tune into your body & listen to it
Find moments of happiness & joy
Truly RESTING without the guilt
Prioritize a good night’s sleep
Write it down. Whether it’s a list or a brain dump. Get it on paper and out of your brain.
